My desire to write stories and the like is still within me, but I have not written anything for a long time. It could be a factor of laziness and general lack of confidence that is preventing me from doing so. Maybe when I learn to be a better writer I could perhaps continue. Maybe I will just go forth without any worries. Who knows. I have a lot of ideas written down, just need to have the motivation to write again.

Perhaps you just need allocated space. If you take a good creative writing course for one semester, it could turn your ideas into concrete works and the grade may be motivation enough to work. Plus there's the bonus of peer review.
If you can, sign up for an upper level course, which is what I did for my philosophy class. The discourse is much richer than having a class with mostly freshmen.
My expository class is only 8 people, but the essays are all based on Chinese philosophy and religion. I will sign up for Intro the Fiction and Poetry and the future, which is freeform writing.
